The Broadening Horizons 3-month placement is a mandatory element of your 4-year MRC funded PhD programme.
This placement is an integral and assessed part of your programme and the process is as follows:

The Placement Description Form
Completion of this form is mandatory for all placements including UKRI internships. This should be completed and submitted to GW4Bio@cardiff.ac.uk prior to the placement. The form can be found here:
The DTP Director, Professor Emma Kidd, will review and sign off both forms for each student and you will receive confirmation by email.
The Placement Report
You should fill in the placement report on completion of your placement, to reflect on the skills and experience gained. The link to the survey is here.
NOTE: The DTP Director, Professor Emma Kidd, will review these forms against the learning objectives and you will receive confirmation by email of the result. In cases where the information given in the above form/report does not meet the learning objectives, they will be double-marked by the DTP Research Culture and Wellbeing Lead, Dr Giovanni Biglino, and you will be given feedback and additional time to provide extra information mapped to the learning objectives.
Newsletter Feature
As part of the placement report you will be asked to write a brief paragraph on your placement experience, which will be used to inform fellow students via the newsletter. Permission will be sought to use the material in any public-facing material.
